When Sammy came to School of Hard Knocks, he was homeless and living in a hostel. He had been out of work for nearly three years, was on probation and was doing community service after being involved in a fight. Inspired by guest trainer and professional boxer Mark Prince, whose story of his son’s murder and his fight to come to terms with this deeply affected many on the course, Sammy used School of Hard Knocks to turn his life around.
Sammy is now a rugby coach and mentor on the SOHK for Schools programme in East London, where he work with over 60 vulnerable children each week who are at risk of permanent exclusion from school. He uses his previous experiences to connect with and inspire those he works with and help change the lives of kids in similar situations to those he was once in.
