We’re excited to share an incredible fundraiser in support of School of Hard Knocks (SOHK). This fundraiser is led by two dedicated supporters, brothers Oliver and Luke Kemmis who are taking on the Fire and Ice Ultra Marathon in Iceland - an extreme 250 km race across rugged terrain.

Their goal? To honour their late father John Kemmis, a dedicated social worker for 50 years. Even after "retiring," he led a national charity that provided advocacy services to children in institutions - giving them a trusted adult to stand up for their rights. In 2021, Oliver and Luke embarked on a series of challenges to honour his incredible work as both a social worker and a children's rights campaigner.

Since then, they’ve pushed themselves to the limit - battling through the Marathon des Sables in 2021 and the gruelling Dragon’s Back Race 2023... All the while, raising funds for charity! This year, on the 25th - 31st of August they’re bravely taking on their biggest challenge yet: the Fire and Ice Ultra Marathon in aid of School of Hard Knocks Charity.

SOHK uses rugby, mentoring, and personal development to guide young people facing challenges like exclusion, mental health struggles, and instability. Our school programme provides structure, hope, and transformative support at a time when many young people need it most.

Thanks to Oliver & Luke's fundraising efforts last year, they raised £20,000 directly funding 20 young people to take part in SOHK’s programmes. But there’s still so much more to be done. SOHK has plans to expand, reaching more schools and young people across the UK by 2030.

Fire & Ice Goal: £30,000 by 2025

With this challenge, the daring duo are aiming to raise £30,000 to help the charity expand and reach even more young people who need support. Every donation, big or small, will help make a lasting impact.
